This is a natural wine without added yeasts and with very little, or no added sulphites. This leads to wines with great purity of fruit but might also lead to more outspoken aromas. Beware that this style might be different from what you are used to when drinking conventional wines.

Rioja Alta – The Wine Love Gonzalo Gonzalo and Mar Mota are some of the most eclectic growers of Rioja. With their funky labels and thirst-quenching wines, they buck the trend of the region governed by the large-scale bodegas. Gonzalo grew up in Fuenmayor and he’s from a family of growers. He studied oenology at the university of Rioja along with biology. After travelling Europe working for small growers, discovering alternative techniques and new varieties, he set up Orgullo, his own oenology project. He teamed up with Mar Cambero Azcàreta (a.k.a. Mar Mota), from a family of artisan cask makers in San Vicente. He is also a graduate in oenology and chemistry at the university of Rioja and they started producing wines biodynamically and with minimal intervention. Vino di Mesa “Gran Cerdo” 2019 Vineyard: grapes from parcels on Rioja Alta (wine is declassified) Grape variety: 100% Tempranillo Terroir: clay with limestone, iron and alluvial deposits Winemaking: whole cluster fermentation in underground cement tanks. Malo-lactic fermentation takes up to a whole year.
