Omschrijving
The 1989 Lynch Bages is one of the greatest Bordeaux wines ever made. Château Lynch-Bages is situated in the Pauillac commune of the Médoc region. There are 90 hectares of vineyards, 75 percent of which are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon. The rest is planted to Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Petit Verdot. The estate produces well known for their structure and intensity wines which can age for 20 years or more. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats with extensive pumping-over for concentration and colour intensity. Lynch-Bages is aged for around 15 months in oak barrels, roughly two thirds of which are new.
The 1989 Lynch Bages displays a dark ruby colour. This fabulous wine delivers so much on the nose – cassis, cedar, forest floor, tobacco and earthy scents. Waves of sweet, ripe, black cherry, chocolate and cassis coat your mouth. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied with a very pure core of fruit, impeccable focus and balance, with ripe, moderate tannins and the intense sweet finish. It’s so perfect now, without any fat or heaviness. It will continue to keep well and have far greater poise.
Robert Parker (99+/100): "One of the all-time great vintages for this château is the 1989 Lynch-Bages, a striking wine that offers up pure and intense aromas of cassis, pencil shavings, spring flowers and hints of cigar wrapper. Full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it's seamless and concentrated, with a rich core of fruit, ripe tannins and a beautifully defined finish. Still an infant at age 32, it surpasses all three of Pauillac's first growths in 1989."
