This is a natural wine without added yeasts and with very little, or no added sulphites. This leads to wines with great purity of fruit but might also lead to more outspoken aromas. Beware that this style might be different from what you are used to when drinking conventional wines.

Domaine Breton – Catherine et Pierre Breton The family of Pierre has been established near Bourgueil for as long as they can trace it and he vinifies the “Breton” variety, another local name of Cabernet Franc, since 1985. Catherine’s family comes from the region of Vouvray where they were established for five generations. Together they bring some of the best wines of some of most famous A.O.C of the Loire. They took over 6 hectares of Chinon in 1989 and started using biodynamics and organic methods since 1990.The cuvée “Nuits d’Ivresse” is bottled without sulfur since 1992! Since 2002, Catherine also vinifies under the label “La Dilletante”. Their property spreads over three A.O.C’s and benefits from a large range of terroirs. The Bourgueil grows on gravels, limestone or clay with flint, the Chinon grows stricly on calcareous “tufs” soils and the Vouvray on clay soils with flint. Catherine and Pierre are iconic growers of the Loire and of the natural wine movement and in the cellar everything is done without intervention. Grapes are hand harvested in cases, ferment with indignous yeasts either in carbonic maceration or destemmed in vats. Their wines are unfiltered and have no or very little SO2.
