Omschrijving
Domaine Isle Saint Pierre
The Domaine was established in 1927 by Mr Pierre Chassaing, grand-father of the current owner Mr Patrick Henry. He planted vines and started breeding sheeps. In 1972, Patrick and Marie-Cécile took the vineyard over and developed it, expanding its size to over 170ha. They cultivate a wide range of grape varieties from Cabernet Sauvignon to the more obscure Italian Carmenere for the reds, and from Sauvignon to multiples varieties of Muscat for the whites. They still have dedicated parcels for growing different varietals on their terroirs. The soil is made out of deep limestone and sand, offering a good drainage. The Mediterranean climate, the proximity to the sea and the multiple ponds of the Camargue region, as well as the Mistral wind also help the vines to stay naturally healthy, limiting the amount of pesticides and other treatments.
